Our Story

Built from real struggles with spreadsheets and late-night calculations

Back in 2019, I was sitting at my kitchen table with bank statements scattered everywhere. My partner looked over and asked why budgeting had to be so complicated. Honestly, I didn't have a good answer. That question stuck with me.

Freya Lundgren

Founder & Chief Financial Educator

Former accountant who spent years watching clients struggle with basic budget concepts. Started xenavethiqo after realising most financial courses taught theory but skipped the actual doing part.

Why this matters to us

Most people don't fail at budgeting because they're bad with numbers. They fail because nobody showed them a practical system that actually fits into their messy, unpredictable lives.

I watched too many capable people beat themselves up over money management. Smart professionals who could run entire departments but felt embarrassed about their personal finances. Parents who wanted to teach their kids about money but didn't know where to start themselves.

xenavethiqo started in a co-working space in Coffs Harbour. Just me, a whiteboard, and a strong belief that budget education shouldn't require an economics degree. We tested our first workshop with twelve locals in early 2020. Half of them brought their actual bank statements, which felt like real trust.

What drives us

Making financial clarity accessible without the jargon maze

We believe budget preparation should be taught like cooking, not calculus. You learn by doing, making mistakes in a safe space, and building confidence through small wins.

Our approach strips away the financial industry's complicated language. We focus on practical methods that work for people juggling multiple responsibilities, irregular incomes, and real-world challenges.

Every learning program we design gets tested with actual participants before we call it ready. If someone leaves confused, that's our failure, not theirs.

01

Start with your actual situation

We don't hand you generic templates and wish you luck. Our programs begin with your real numbers, your actual spending patterns, and your specific goals.

  • Bring your bank statements to sessions
  • Work with your real income fluctuations
  • Address your specific financial challenges
  • Build systems around your lifestyle
02

Practice in safe environments

Learning budget skills means making mistakes without consequences. Our workshops create space for questions that feel too basic to ask elsewhere.

  • Small group sessions for honest conversations
  • Scenario exercises with realistic complications
  • Peer feedback from people facing similar challenges
  • Follow-up support when things get confusing

What we actually believe about financial education

These aren't corporate values we printed on posters. They're principles that shape how we design every workshop and interaction.

Transparency over complexity

Financial concepts don't need fancy packaging. We explain things clearly or we don't explain them at all. No hiding behind jargon when a simple answer exists.

Progress over perfection

A budget that works 70% of the time beats a perfect plan you abandon after two weeks. We help you build sustainable habits, not unsustainable ideals.

Practical over theoretical

You won't spend sessions copying formulas from slides. Our programs focus on building actual budget systems you'll use next Monday morning.

Where we work and how we teach

Our Coffs Harbour space hosts in-person workshops. We also run virtual sessions for participants across Australia who prefer learning from home. Both formats focus on hands-on practice rather than passive watching.

Ready to build a budget system that actually works?

Our next programme starts in September 2025. We're keeping groups small so everyone gets proper attention during exercises.
